Options for Hopeful Gay Parents
For gay couples or gay individuals, a gestational carrier (surrogate) plays an important role in family building. A surrogate is a healthy woman who will carry the child in her womb from implantation to delivery. You can choose a friend or family member to be your surrogate, or you can work with our center to find the right candidate.
Prior to selecting a gestational carrier, intended parents will also have to choose a provider for their donor eggs. As with surrogacy, intended parents can work with a known donor or choose a highly qualified donor through our office. The donor eggs are then retrieved during a short surgical procedure.
The final step is in vitro fertilization. After they are retrieved from the selected egg donor, the donor eggs will be fertilized in a laboratory setting. Next, the fertilized eggs are transferred into the surrogate's uterus for implantation, and our Lubbock team will inform you if a pregnancy occurs.

Surrogacy A Key Component in Helping Many Hopeful Parents Achieve Their Goals
Options for Hopeful Lesbian Parents
For lesbian couples and lesbian individuals, the first step in the family building process is selecting a sperm donor. You can choose to receive donor sperm from a friend or family member, or you can receive donor sperm from a donation center. Donation centers provide profiles about each donor so that you can choose a candidate with highly desirable qualities.
Many lesbian partners choose to use their own eggs during the process. However, women with reproductive health issues or genetic disorders may feel more comfortable working with an egg donor to ensure a healthy, successful pregnancy.
Reciprocal IVF is a very popular option among lesbian partners, as it allows both partners to play an important role in the pregnancy. During reciprocal IVF, one partner will provide the egg, while the other partner will carry the child during the pregnancy. In this way, both partners can contribute genetically to the pregnancy.
Whether due to age, health restrictions, or personal preferences, some lesbian partners may also choose surrogacy as part of their family building plan. If neither of the partners can carry the child in their uterus, they can choose a known surrogate or connect with a surrogate through our Lubbock, TX, center.
Artificial insemination, also known as intrauterine insemination or IUI, is another option for lesbian partners who want to achieve pregnancy through assisted reproductive technology. During intrauterine insemination, concentrated semen is inserted directly into the uterus of the partner who will be carrying the child. This procedure is designed to promote egg fertilization, and we will closely monitor your menstrual cycle to perform the procedure during a time when you or your partner will have the highest chance of becoming pregnant.
