Gestational Surrogacy
Dealing with infertility or not being able to have children on your own can be stressful and discouraging for many hopeful parents.
The Center for Reproductive Medicine works with surrogates to help patients fulfill their dreams of starting or growing their family.
What exactly does gestational surrogacy entail, and why should you consider our fertility clinic in Lubbock, TX, to help?
Turning Dreams into a Reality
In some cases, the best option to fulfill the wish of starting a family is through surrogacy. Dr. Janelle Dorsett helps facilitate gestational surrogacy and supports hopeful parents through this unique and life-changing experience.
In the simplest terms, the process involves combining eggs and sperm, which are fertilized through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and placed in a surrogate to be carried to term. As a result, the surrogate has no genetic link to the child. In most instances, one or both intended parents are related to the child depending on whether their eggs, sperm, or both are used in the procedure.
What Are the Benefits of Surrogacy?
Genetic Link
Gestational surrogacy uses the eggs, sperm, or both from the intended parents, making it possible for them to be biologically related to the child.Reliable Results
Along with being carefully screened, surrogates can’t be approved unless they’ve had at least one healthy pregnancy in the past. This greatly improves the chance of a successful outcome.Quick Process
The surrogacy process is faster in comparison to adoption. Adoption is more complicated by nature, and in some cases, the process can stretch several years. We Offer Full Support at Every Stage

"Her Office Team All Made Us Feel like Family"
We appreciate Dr. Dorsett and all of her office team for everything they did for us to give us our blessings. Dr. Dorsett is very knowledgable and it's clear that she truly loves the work that she does. She is straightforward with you and tells you exactly what her thoughts are which was comforting for us since this was such a new experience for us. Her office team all made us feel like family and made the struggle with infertility so much easier to go through. We cannot say enough good things about this office and highly reccomend Dr. Dorsett to anyone else who is struggling to conceive.
View On GoogleMy experience with Dr. Dorsett was amazing. I'll recommend her to everyone requiring fertility assistance. She was calm and comforting, and I owe my pregnancy to her and her qualified team. My husband and I chose IVF. The Centre for Reproductive Medicine was very helpful as far as laying out the cost of the procedure up front. We were able to take a year and save for it. A well made decision! I am now pregnant with 2 twin girls and could not be happier. We will visit Dr. Dorsett again in a couple years to add to our family. I honestly can't wait. Thank you, Janelle. We'll see you soon.

How Do I Select a Surrogate?
You have full control when it comes to selecting a surrogate. You may choose a close family member or friend, or use an agency. Our Lubbock fertility clinic in Texas has a pool of qualified surrogates for you to choose from. Out of all the applications we receive, we only accept a small percentage that we believe are the strongest candidates.
Whether you choose someone you know or choose to work with an agency, all potential surrogates are rigorously screened and tested before being approved. Along with being evaluated medically, physically, and psychologically, surrogates must have had at least one child of their own without any pregnancy or delivery complications.
How to Protect Your Rights during Surrogacy
It is advisable to hire an attorney to assist with the selection process, as well as the drafting of necessary legal documents. Texas is considered a very surrogate-friendly state. Only one of the parties involved – one of the genetic parents, or the surrogate – is required to have resided in Texas for at least 90 days in order for courts to have jurisdiction to recognize a parent-child relationship between the genetic parents and the baby.
The attorney will create a contract in which the risks and responsibilities of both parties are established and agreed upon. This ensures a seamless process and reduces the risk of any conflict or misunderstandings occurring. After the contract is signed, our fertility clinic will move forward with the process of IVF, embryo transfer, and finally, pregnancy.
Understanding the Treatment Process
The surrogacy process is faster than adoption, which can span several years.
What Is the Cost of Surrogacy?
Surrogacy is not just an emotional and physical commitment, it’s a financial one as well. Because most insurance companies don’t cover fertility procedures, we offer a range of financing options for our patients. At your initial visit to our clinic in Lubbock, Texas, we conduct a financial consultation to determine if surrogacy is right for you, and the best way to approach it. We’re here to answer any questions you may have about the process and are upfront about all costs. Some intended parents choose to take out loans to help pay for treatment. We also partner with a third-party lender named Prosper, which offers low-interest loans.
